Qualcomm schedules Snapdragon 875 announcement for December 1

 


Qualcomm traditionally launches its next-gen flagship chipset at its yearly conference in Hawaii, taking place at the beginning of December. Despite the overall COVID-19-related uncertainties, the chip company will stick to its usual schedule, announcing this year's event for December 1-2 and that’s when we expect to see the Snapdragon 875.


Qualcomm posted the date on its Weibo profile, and Xiaomi China president was the first to share his excitment. Lu Weibing confirmed that the company's next flagships will be among the first phones on the market with Snapdragon 875.

An upper mid-range Snapdragon 775G might also debut at the event. We expect these to be 5nm chips, while the Snapdragon 875 will be the first to use ARM's new ultra-powerful X1 CPU core.

Court documents reveal that Apple will use Qualcomm 5G modems through 2023

  Last year Apple and Qualcomm  buried the hatchet , which paved the way to using Qualcomm modems in Apple’s new 5G iPhones. A teardown from earlier today revealed that the iPhone 12 series is   using the X55 modem , a modem usually found paired with a Snapdragon 865 chipset in this year’s Android phones. But this is just the beginning of the partnership. And it’s actually the settlement filing that reveals what’s to come from both Apple and Qualcomm. The two companies agreed to use the  X55   for the 2020 launch. Then Qualcomm’s X60 modem will be used for the 2021 launch, a 5nm chip while the X55 is manufactured on a 7nm process (a node behind the Apple A14 chipset). This should reduce the power usage in 5G mode compared to current models. Xiaomi teases Redmi K30S, rumor has it that it will be cheaper than the K30 Ultra

  Redmi’s General Manager posted a teaser on Weibo and the President of Xiaomi’s Mobile division responded to the post – this increased activity is building up to the unveiling of the redmi k30s Which will happen on October 27, according to one tipster, who adds that the phone will go on sale on November 1, days before the shopping spree on 11/11 (Singles’ Day). We haven’t gotten an official confirmation for that date yet.
